Three Books on My Summer Reading List

07.12.16

Sydne Style shows the best hotels in new york city at nomo soho bed I’ve been doing a ton of traveling recently. It’s the perfect excuse to unwind on the plane, beach or hotel with a good book. This past weekend, I did the latter in my gorgeous room at one of my favorite hotels in New York, Nomo Soho. After three days full of back-to-back meetings, I ordered room service and curled up in bed watching it drizzle over the city as I relaxed and read.

Here are the three books on my summer reading list right now. I’d love to hear what’s on yours. And let me know if you’re interested in a book club column! I thought it would be fun to compare reads every few months. Here’s my reviews so far:

Sydne Style reviews The singles game lauren weisberger new book for summer 2016 The Singles Game
I was so excited when Lauren Weisberger sent this one over. She’s the brilliant author behind Devil Wears Prada! This book is centered around a young tennis star, who rebrands her image for her career. Considering Wimbledon is happening right now it’s very timely. It’s such an entertaining, light read that I actually finished it in one day when I was by the pool in Palm Springs! I hear they’re going to make a movie around it and I can’t wait to see the cute tennis outfits!

Sydne Style reads a paris apartment for blogger book club A Paris Apartment
I’m only half way through but can’t wait to finish this one up on my way to Miami on Thursday. The book is based on a furniture specialist who is sent to France to appraise pieces in a hidden gem appartment. Anything that’s set in Paris gains major points for me! The writing is so descriptive that I can almost see the antiques come to life, as if I’m scrolling through a beautiful feed on Instagram. I’m excited to get more into the mystery portion and she discovers the woman’s past of the house she’s appraising.

I haven’t started this one yet but it’s set in Nantucket and I just visited the Cape last month so I look forward to reading about the New England setting.

If you haven’t read The Girl on the Train yet, I also highly recommend that one. It’s a thriller ala Gone Girl that’s so suspenseful I also had to finish it in a day. I’m very curious to see the movie version with Emily Blunt in October!

    Thanks Abril, I did!

  • I like reading during rainy days too, with a cup of tea at my side. This post reminded me I should finish my Pokemon Adventures book before it’s due back at the library. Another patron has it on hold so I can’t renew.

I’m also reading Night Burger by Jason Sarna and Vertoscope : a Villainous Collection. I’m also slowly inching my way through Refund by Karen E. Bender; I was almost half done but the loan period was coming up. I have to re-borrow it again. 🙂

I’ve heard good things about Girl on the Train. I wish to read it someday.

    Happy reading!
