Growing up in Miami, I’ve always loved going on boats. I don’t get to go as much in LA so I was thrilled that one of our activities in Aruba was a boat day. So what do you wear on a boat? A nautical look, of course! Here are my five boating outfit must-haves:
1. Button-Down Shirt
Button-downs are multi-functional for a day at sea. You can tuck your shirt into your shorts or tie it up like I did. Then after you go for a swim, you can leave it unbuttoned over your bathing suit to protect your shoulders from the sun. I went with a striped button-down for a nautical vibe.
2. Straw Hat
I love the look of a straw hat for a boat outfit. I’ve been wearing this raffia fedora non-stop! The only problem is the wind. I had to tuck my hat away as we sailed but I brought it back out when we anchored in the middle of the ocean for lunch.
3. High-Rise Shorts
Thank goodness for the high-rise denim trend! Since my shorts sat at my waist, I didn’t have to worry about sucking in as as I sat chatting with friends over piña coladas. I love these white denim shorts because they have a bit of stretchy, making them extra comfy.
4. Boat Shoes
5. Drawstring Bag
A drawstring bag is a must to keep your essentials safe from the wind. We stayed at Ocean Z Aruba, who gave us these adorable striped bags. But there are plenty of cute options online as well!
