Staple of the Week: Flower Appliqué Top

(Olivia Palermo in Ann Taylor, Emma Stone in Dolce & Gabbana, Anne Hathaway in Dolce & Gabbana)

Every awards season, I swoon over the floral organza gowns that float down the red carpet. But since most of don’t have the chance to dress like an ethereal princess in every day life, a flower appliqué top is the next best thing. You can wear it with a skirt to the office, or jeans for a chic weekend look. Here are my top picks under $100:

1. Ann Taylor (same as Olivia), $98
2. River Island, $43.49
3. Forever 21, $19.80
4. Ann Taylor, $88

Stay tuned to see how I style my Ann Taylor top three ways in this week’s Staples Series!

Spring 2010 New York Fashion Week Trends: Excited For… Bold Black & White

Spring 2010 New York Fashion Week Trends Bold Black & White

Bold Black & White
I fell in love with the Gianfrance Ferre dress Anne Hathaway wore to the Critics’ Choice Awards so I’m thrilled there are similar variations in the works aside from the Alice + Olivia one Amber Tamblyn and Khloe Kardashian sported over the summer. At last week’s Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party, Desperate Housewives’ Andrea Bowen also hopped on the trend with a zig-zag strapless. And I cannot wait to see which celebrity will wear Marchesa’s cutout rose creation on the red carpet!

ttF Daily Fave: Harry Winston Micro-Pavé Diamond Ring

Harry Winston Micro-Pave Diamond RingLast night my best friend and I watched Bride Wars. Anne Hathaway looked gorgeous, like usual, Kate Hudson was adorable but the movie is nothing to write home about. Nonetheless, it put us in marital mode and we spent the rest of the evening looking at wedding dresses and engagement rings online. My favorite is, and has been for years, Harry Winston’s Micro-Pavé Diamong Ring. It’s a cushion cut diamond in a micro-pavé setting. Hey, a girl can dream, can’t she?

Earth Month Day 27: Alex and Ani

alex-ani

If you’ve ever opened up a celebrity weekly, you’ve probably seen Alex and Ani bangles on the wrists of Anne Hathaway, Miley Cyrus, Jessica Simpson and America Ferrera, to name a few. The celeb-coveted line was created by Carolyn Rafaelian, who grew up in a family of jewelers and named her company after her two daughters. She uses domestic recycled metals and nothing is thrown away or wasted. The bracelets are a little pricy but these are pieces both you and your daughter can wear, thanks to an expandable design concept that guarantees almost every body type the perfect fit. Alex and Ani also has unique earrings, necklaces, rings and hair accessories.
