ttF Fashion Staples Month #14 Summary: February Gem
I thought February was going to be such a hard month since it’s the shortest of the year… and I was spending a good part of at fashion week in New York. But the staples I chose went so well together it was easy to double up for outfits. After a long dress phase, I’m now obsessed with pants, thanks to my wide-leg staples. I could easily wear them for 28 more days.

Here’s the breakdown for February…

ttF Fashion Diary: Cropped Color

ttF Fashion Staple: Crop Top
What a short month! February literally went by in the blink of an eye. I decided to end the month with my favorite trend du jour: color blocking. I had an important meeting today and über high heels always give me an extra dose of confidence. The bold color reflected my excitement for new things to come next month. I promise to share soon!

ttF Fashion Diary: Oscars with the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Force

ttF Fashion Staple: Blue Necklace
Being part of the Fashion Force wasn’t just riding around in an insanely cool car and snapping street style pics. I also was invited to the Mercedes-Benz Oscars viewing party at Soho House. I had to be at the office all day covering the Oscars red carpet fashion for Mystyle. So I needed a dress comfy enough to take me from my desk to a chic party. I opted for the stretchy LBD I wore on E!’s Live from the Red Carpet Eclipse premiere and used this month’s staple to dress it up.

I had such a blast with my Fashion Force crew: Kelsi of Dedicated Followers of Fashion, Laurie of Laurie B Style and Nadine of Nadie Jolie, as well as our fabulous party guests Kristen of BeVainorDIY and Mr. Cuit. Thanks to Mercedes-Benz for such a fun Oscars week!

ttF Fashion Diary: Oscars with QVC

ttF Fashion Staple: Gemstone Brooch
Between the rain and the cold, Mother Nature has not been cooperating so far for Oscars weekend. Still, the pre-parties must go on. Last night, QVC hosted a red carpet event at the Four Seasons. I went with my blogger pal Kristen and in honor of her DIY fabulousness I did my own DIY project before leaving the house.

I stuck a piece of velcro on the back on my brooch and the flap of my clutch. It took the purse from pretty to red carpet ready in under a minute. And because of the rain, I didn’t even both with my hair. I put it in a ponytail and used my go-to trick of upping the glam factor with a saucy lip, this time adding a touch of gold to the red mix with Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Mystère lipstick.

ttF Fashion Diary: South by Southwest

ttF Fashion Staple: Blue Necklace
Last year, I incorporated one of October’s ttF Fashion Staples into the Fall 2010 Lookbook for Two Point Oh! LA. So this season, I wanted to do the same. The majority of this month’s luxe staples didn’t fit into my team’s theme: South by Southwest. So I used a trick lia sophia’s Elena Kiam taught me in New York while I was previewing her jewelry company’s new collection. “Try turning your stone necklace backwards,” she advised. “That way you see the textured gold.”

The tip worked perfectly layered today with a vintage-looking locket necklace and floral cross-body bag. Thanks Elena!

The spring lookbook is coming out soon so I don’t want to give too much away. This outfit is just a preview of the boho chic looks to come.
