ttF Fashion Staple: Gemstone Brooch
Between the rain and the cold, Mother Nature has not been cooperating so far for Oscars weekend. Still, the pre-parties must go on. Last night, QVC hosted a red carpet event at the Four Seasons. I went with my blogger pal Kristen and in honor of her DIY fabulousness I did my own DIY project before leaving the house.

I stuck a piece of velcro on the back on my brooch and the flap of my clutch. It took the purse from pretty to red carpet ready in under a minute. And because of the rain, I didn’t even both with my hair. I put it in a ponytail and used my go-to trick of upping the glam factor with a saucy lip, this time adding a touch of gold to the red mix with Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Mystère lipstick.

ttF Fashion Staple: Gemstone Brooch and Suede Over the Knee Boots
For my last night in New York, I was asked to present at the Second Annual Fashion 2.0 Awards. The event, hosted by Style Coalition in partnership with TheFind, celebrates the best in fashion, tech and social media. I normally would wear a dress for this type of occasion but I didn’t have time for any last minute shopping. So I worked with what I had in my suitcase.

A sequin sweater adds an instant glam factor to any outfit and I upped the sparkle even more with my brooch. My co-presenter, Felicia Walker Benson of ThisThatBeauty (pictured seated below with me, Jordanna Bruner of Clutch 22 and Gala of GalaDarling) had a similar idea. She accented her LBD with a fabulous jaguar brooch on her shoulder.

ttF Fashion Diary: NYFW Heart Truth Red Dress

ttF Fashion Staple: Velvet Blazer and Gemstone Brooch
Tonight, I kicked off fashion week at the Heart Truth Red Dress show. Last year, I appropriately went with a red dress. This year, I honestly forgot and instead went with a teal mini I wore back at fashion week in September. To make it more winter friendly, I went monochromatic with matching tights and a blazer. Evette Rios, who was on the carpet for Rachael Ray, said she liked my peacock colors. Still, I felt bad for not wearing the hue of the night.

Luckily, I was able to show my support by adding an extra brooch to my outfit. As one of the sponsors of the charity event, Swarovski included heart shaped pins in the goodie bags. So I quickly put mine on before taking my seat across from Top Model triple threat: Mr. Jay, Miss Jay and Nigel Barker, who now has hair! If you look closely you can see him behind me below.

ttF Fashion Staple: Gemstone Brooch
A brooch is on of the most versatile pieces of jewelry. You can wear it as a pin, on a headband, as a necklace and on a belt. Today, I wrapped an old ribbon belt around a floral dress and used this month’s staple to fasten it in place. It made the patterned background a little more luxe. Even though it’s gorgeous and warm in LA, my office is always freezing so I paired my chunky sandals with tights to bring in the blue of the DIYed belt. All I can think about is the cold I’m going to experience tomorrow as I head to New York for fashion week!
