Staple of the Week: Jacquard Skirt

(Jamie King, Jennifer Lawrence, Jordana Brewster)

A jacquard skirt is a great way to add luxurious feel to your look without spending a ton of money. You can pair the bottom with a basic top or glamorous sequins for an extra boost. Plus, the trend is continuing for next season. So you’ll be able to wear this staple for months to come. Here are my top picks under $100:

1. Topshop, $80
2. ASOS, $68.60
3. Anthropologie, $88
4. Topshop for Norstrom, $80

Stay tuned to see how I wear my jacquard skirt three ways in this week’s Staples Series!

Staple of the Week: Striped Dress

(Jessica Biel in Porter Gray, Sarah Jessica Parker in Salvatore Ferragamo, Jordana Brewster in BCBGMax Azria)

A striped dress is a classic you’ll be able to wear forever. And the trick to finding a flattering one lies in the lines. Look for diagonal stripes that follow the curves of your body. Or use vertical lines to elongate problem areas and horizontal stripes to balance out more petite parts of your body. Here are four dresses you can wear now into summer…

1. Lauren by Ralph Lauren, $144
2. Vince Camuto, $99
3. Dolce Vita, $110
4. MICHAEL Michael Kors, $134

Stay tuned to see how I style my Bailey 44 dress (similar to this one) three ways in this week’s Staples Series!

ttF Scene: Alice + Oliva Shoe Preview

Last night, Alice + Olivia hosted a cocktail party at Palihouse in West Hollywood to showcase their new shoe collection. As a major shoe lover myself, I could not get over the display of resort footwear hanging in the courtyard like pieces of art. Guests including Jennifer Love Hewitt, Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet, Maria Menounos and Katie Cassidy mingled amongst the bright colored wedges, golden heels and sparkly stilettos. Lauren Conrad even indulged in a little face painting!
One of my faves were these blush encrusted platforms, which my friend Kristen of Glitter N Glue wisely declared the perfect wedding shoe…

ttF Scene: Sunset Colors at JustFab Launch

I’m so happy I wore my colorblock staple to the launch of JustFabulous. As one of my friends pointed out over sipping Chanel No 5 (a tequila pomegranate cocktail served at the party), “Girl, I’m seeing your colors everywhere!” And she was right: Nia Vardalos tapped into the colorblocking trend by accessorizing her hot pink dress with turquoise jewelry. Jordana Brewster used metallic accents to add shine to her minimalist purple shift while Lisa Edelstein went with my birthday color trio: orange, brown and gold. Together we looked like one vibrant sunset, perfect for feting shoes on Sunset Boulevard!

But not everyone went bright…

Celebrity stylist Jessica Paster, who hosted the event as the stylist of the online VIP shoe program, kept it chic in black. Dakota Fanning looked  like she was ready for Coachella with a straw hat and flatforms. Kimora Lee Simmons went monochromatic with a sexy olive mini and matching leather jacket. Emmanuelle Chriqui tapped into the 70s trend with a sheer printed turtleneck and wide-leg J Brands. And Marcia Cross went sophisticated with a jewel tone shift, accented with Bauble Bar rust earrings which looked gorgeous with her hair color. And no, Marcia did not pull a Helena Bonham Carter with mismatched heels. Every guest tried on shoes and got to leave with their very own pair!
