I was so excited when Reiss asked me to be a part of their Summer edit. I joined bloggers across the world to pick out my fave pieces of the season. The minute I walked into the store, I was instantly drawn to this striped dress. It evoked the elegance of Kate Middleton (who is a major fan of the brand)—but it still had the ease of my California lifestyle. The cotton blend makes it the perfect travel piece, too! You can wear it by the beach during the day with a large floppy hat and gold sandals. Then, dress it up for night with gold jewelry and a stiletto. A white jacket acts as the perfect neutral to try out different colorblocking combos. I always like experimenting with different shades, like lemon-lime and lavender (don’t those colors even sound good together?!). I accented the shades with icy silver accessories. To celebrate my birthday, my boyfriend surprised me with a relaxing mini weekend getaway. Since we were only going to be gone for two days, I wanted to pack light. And I mean really light. I brought comfy pants and a sweater for the spa, and then one dress I could easily transition from daytime to dinner. A long vest easily becomes a top when you belt it. To avoid any embarrassing moments either wear a camisole underneath or use two pieces of double-stick tape to secure the fabric to your bra. Since there was so much volume on top, I contrasted it with a skinny jean and stilettos. If you don’t have a scarf vest, you can create a similar look with a printed scarf, like I did here. (more…)
