All I felt like wearing today was pajamas. But I couldn’t exactly show up to work in my Paul Frank set. So I went for the next best thing: an über comfy maxi. This Beatles dress by Lyric culture literally feels like a lounging robe. It’s a little low in front for the office so I used my lightweight scarf to cover up.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Maxi on Melrose
Earlier today I used my scarf as a belt. But my hair got a little messed up so I transformed the leopard into a headband. My friend said she would never have thought to mix a tropical print with leopard. But I look at animal prints as a neutral. You can wear them with solids, brights or even florals.

A comfy maxi was the perfect choice for a Friday filled with food and cocktails. No matter how much I ate or drank, nobody would ever know, thanks to an empire waist. The stacked bangles and leather jacket I threw on when in got cold later in the evening were very Nicole Richie boho inspired. And how cool is the impromptu backdrop my friend Jamie and I found on Melrose?

ttF Fashion Staples Series: Larios Love
I bought this dress a year ago during a shopping spree with Amber aka the Beauty Blogging Junkie. I haven’t had an occasion to wear it but neon and backless seemed perfectly appropriate for South Beach. And the best part about maxis is you can wear super comfy wedges underneath without anyone knowing.

My friends are obsessed with Larios, Gloria Estefan’s Cuban restaurant on the beach. Being a Miami native, I still think the best Cuban food is at hole in the walls in Calle Ocho but Larios’ atmosphere is certainly better for a girls night out. We always share Sangria, cod fritters, fried yuca, the Bongo salad with chicken and plantain cups stuffed with ropa vieja (shredded beef).

After dinner, we stopped by Ocean Drive‘s Nespresso store opening on Lincoln Road. My friend Patty and I got a little happy in the photo booth. I just love black and white pictures. They make everyone’s skin so flawless.

Maxi Dress Mania

I realized that last month I bought four maxi dresses. That’s one per week! The funny thing is, the two I like the best were the least expensive. It just goes to show, you don’t need to spend a lot to love what you’re wearing. I’ve styled each maxi dress two ways to show their versatility. Can you guess which was the best steal?
