ttF Fashion Diary: NYC Nights

ttF Fashion Staple: Chain Belt and Colorful Snakeskin Pumps
After a full day of shows, it was time to celebrate fashion week with my best friend last night. I edged up a basic LBD with chains, a cuff and snakeskin and we headed to Lexington Brass for martinis and dinner. Next, it was off to the W before dancing the night away at Avenue. And what NYC night is complete without a little late night pizza? It’s a good thing I was wearing a belt. I easily could have devoured three slices. Pizza is just so much better in New York!

ttF Fashion Diary: NYFW Day 2

ttF Fashion Staple: Chain Belt
In addition to jewel tones, I’m excited about fall’s midi skirt trend. I bought this vintage one over the summer and figured fashion week was the perfect time to break it out. I originally was going to go with a black top but instead played into brights with Kelly green.

The morning kicked off in the American Express Skybox, watching Project Runway‘s finale show. My vote for the final three is Laura, Anya and Oliver, although all the designer’s collections were quite impressive.

Speaking of Project Runway, I got to chat with alumn Althea Harper, who is a style ambassador for Rowenta. I’ll share what she had to say in a video coming up soon!

Then, it was off to Luca Luca, where I fell in love with the vibrant colors and this vest.

Next, it was off to MADE, to see Costello Tagliapietra. As you can see in the photo below, the American Express lounge had a mini pampering station so my hair went from curly to Victoria’s Secret bombshell as I waited to chat with the designers (you can read the interview on the AMEX Skybox Report).

Finally, I headed back up to Lincoln Center for Nicole Miller’s insane show. She headed back to the 80s and 90s with neon and prints, my fave being this dress. What a day!

ttF Fashion Diary: NYFW Day 1

ttF Fashion Staple: Orange Pencil Skirt
Fashion week officially began this morning. And I kicked it off by watching BCBG Max Azria at the American Express Skybox. Not too shabby! It’s been raining on and off so I started off the day with a trench I actually bought last Fashion’s Night Out. When it warmed up, I took off my coat to reveal my bold color combo: a mustard floral top, this month’s orange skirt and bright yellow pumps. It felt like a cheery start to the week—and I’m thrilled my mom let me borrow her fab purse for fashion week. It fits right in with fall’s structured bag trend.

After BCBG, it was on to Richard Chai and Tadashi Shoji. I was beyond obsessed with this Carrie Bradshaw-esque striped beauty and all the sheer lace dresses. Simply dreamy.

Throughout the week, I’ll be posting runway and behind-the-scenes shots on my Tumblr so make sure to follow me there or on Twitter at @sydnesummer to stay updated!

ttF Fashion Diary: Fashion 2.0 Awards

ttF Fashion Staple: Gemstone Brooch and Suede Over the Knee Boots
For my last night in New York, I was asked to present at the Second Annual Fashion 2.0 Awards. The event, hosted by Style Coalition in partnership with TheFind, celebrates the best in fashion, tech and social media. I normally would wear a dress for this type of occasion but I didn’t have time for any last minute shopping. So I worked with what I had in my suitcase.

A sequin sweater adds an instant glam factor to any outfit and I upped the sparkle even more with my brooch. My co-presenter, Felicia Walker Benson of ThisThatBeauty (pictured seated below with me, Jordanna Bruner of Clutch 22 and Gala of GalaDarling) had a similar idea. She accented her LBD with a fabulous jaguar brooch on her shoulder.

Felicia and I awarded Bluefly Closet Confessions the Best Online Video. To learn more about the event, including all the night’s winners, click here. And congrats to Yuli Ziv on such a successful night!

ttF Fashion Diary: NYFW Day 7

ttF Fashion Staple: Velvet Blazer
Back in October, I got great feedback on this city safari look I created using that month’s sweater dress staples as a top and layering it with a bright skirt. So today, I did a similar outfit with more layers to combat the New York chill. The boots were a huge hit and got photographed for numerous blogs. But they’re not so man friendly. One guy called them “silly Pocahantas shoes.” But when it’s fashion week, I certainly dress more for women then men.

Today, was my last full day of shows. It began with a creamy winterland at Nanette Lepore and ended with red carpet royalty gowns at Marchesa. For pics and my runway recaps make sure you check out my daily Fashion Week column on Mystyle.com and follow me on Twitter at @sydnesummer!
