ttF Fashion Staples Series Month #22 Summary: October Bordeaux

ttF Fashion Staples Month #22 Summary: October Bordeaux
This month’s wine colored staples proved incredibly versatile. They traveled with me from San Diego and Las Vegas to Barcelona. And they were easy to incorporate into my Halloween costumes. I especially adored the deep purple and burgundy mixed with green shades. And now I’m officially obsessed with floppy hats. I can’t wait to wear more in months to come!

Here’s the breakdown for October…

ttF Fashion Diary: Marie Antoinette

ttF Fashion Staple: Burgundy Platforms
For our second night in Vegas, I went as Marie Antoinette. I found this dress at a vintage shop for about $20. It had these hideous velvet leggings attached, which I cut off into a hot pant and added an extra layer of tulle with a petticoat. I used burgundy ribbon to create matching bows on my thigh-highs. Then I wrapped the ribbon around a trio of pearl necklaces to create a choker. The hardest part was my hair. I set it in pin curls, teased it to no end and hairsprayed it like crazy. Then I used clip-on earrings for embellishment.

The inspiration for my hair was actually Holly Madison, who had a Marie Antoinette themed birthday at the Playboy Mansion a few years ago. This year, Holly went as Tangled‘s Rapunzel for her annual Hollyween Halloween bash. My friends and I had a blast dancing the night away at Studio 54 inside MGM. Hope all of you had a fab holiday weekend!

ttF Fashion Diary: Purple Swan

ttF Fashion Staple: Purple Statement Necklace
When Black Swan came out last year, I knew that’s what I wanted to be for Halloween. But then again… so did everyone else. Since I prefer to be different, I decided to go as a purple swan to tie into this month’s staples theme. After picking up tools at Michaels, I glittered a corset and added feather fuzz to the bustline. Then, I created a tutu-like skirt by dying boas and gluing them onto a satin mini. Feather lashes completed the look for a night out in Vegas, partying it up with my friends at LAVO and TAO. What are you going as this year?

ttF Fashion Diary: Marcolin Luncheon

ttF Fashion Staple: Cold Shoulder Blouse
Living in Los Angeles, sunglasses are one of my fave accessories. So I was thrilled to be invited to a luncheon toasting Marcolin‘s 50 years in luxury eyewear. The company has the hottest glasses. Think brands like Tom Ford, Roberto Cavalli, Montblanc and Tod’s (which I’m wearing in the photo above). Since it was quite chilly up in the hills, I kept warm by layering a knit blazer over my sheer top and adding a statement necklace and a fab new purse to dress up the look.

ttF Fashion Diary: Sightseeing in Spain

ttF Fashion Staple: Purple Statement Necklace
Our last day in Barcelona was a free day to tour the city. I walked around taking in the sights and snapping pics with my blogger friends, The Budget Babe, Viva Fashion, Extra Petite, Cheap Chicas and Grit and Glamour. I stayed comfy in stretchy jeans and layers on top, which I kept taking on and off as the temperatures changed. The color palette was actually inspired from the outfit I created at this blogger challenge a few weeks before.
