Let’s Decorate a Cake!

Sydne Style Flutter Magazine wedding cake ideas Duff's cake mix los angeles cake decorating fashion

My friend Sam of Could I Have That is getting married this summer. As part of her wedding preparations, she brought Shauna of Penny Chic and I along for a little cake decorating at Duff’s Cakemix in West Hollywood. It’s a very cool concept. You get a pre-baked cake then decorate it with fondant, icing, candy and even edible glitter! I was inspired by the leaves of my bracelet, and created a Midsummer Night’s Dream motif with butterflies and vines. You can see more images in this month’s issue of Flutter Magazine. I hope all of you have an extra sweet weekend! (more…)

Introducing Penny Chic by Shauna Miller

Sydne Style - Penny Chic by Shauna Miller LBD Walmart Dresses Empire HotelIn case you haven’t been following on Twitter or Instagram, I’m so excited to announced that one of my best blogger friends in LA has launched a dress line on Walmart.com. Introducing the Penny Chic by Shauna Miller collection. It’s a line of LBDs that all retail for, wait for it… $20 each! And they certainly don’t look like they’re only twenty bucks. I wore the peplum style while at New York Fashion Week, and it fit right with my luxe surroundings at the Empire Hotel. (more…)

The Scene: Pre-Emmys Party With LA Confidential

(DIY statement necklace, Black Halo runway rooftop at the London, Mac n Cheese bar, People Stylewatch best of denim wall and jean flowers)

Tonight are the 64th Annual Emmy Awards. I kicked them off last weekend at a fabulous party with Audi and Derek Lam. On Thursday, I continued the festivities with Los Angeles Confidential magazine. The party, which was held rooftop at The London, featured a poolside fashion show by Black Halo Eve, designer Laurel Berman new gown collection. And a macaroni and cheese bar! If you follow me in on instagram, you know I’m as obsessed with mac n cheese as I am with shoes.

I borrowed a floral dress from Black Halo to celebrated the evening’s festivities. I loved the winter floral print and subtle peplum shape. I didn’t have a statement necklace to go with the dress so I created my own by layering three pieces. It’s such an easy DIY!

After the fashion show, I headed to Palihouse with my party pal Shauna Miller aka Penny Chic, for People StyleWatch‘s Denim Issue celebration. I felt a little out of place not wearing jeans but it’s always better to be overdressed for events. I can’t wait to see what everyone wears on the red carpet tonight!

To celebrate their gorgeous Spring 2013 collections, Max and Lubov Azria hosted a BCBGMaxAzria and Hervé Léger party at the Top of the Standard. Although I’ve frequented the hotel I’ve never been to the rooftop and the views were spectacular! We sipped on signature drinks (the Femme Fetal and Straight Up Bandage) and danced to DJ Kiss. I was thrilled to get to spend time with the BCBG team and my beautiful blogging buddies Penny Chic, Kelly Golightly and Walk in Wonderland.

As for what I wore? I swapped out of my metallic bandage for ombré and added some statement earrings to dance the night away.
