My ten year high school reunion snuck up on me this month. After RSVPing I was so busy with shoots that there was no time to shop for a new dress! So I searched my closet to find something to reflect how I wanted my former schoolmates to see me: sophisticated, fresh and unique.
I turned my dress into a top by layering it under a voluminous sequined skirt, finishing it off with classic heels and a stack full of bangles. Later in the night I added a leather jacket when the weather dropped in the valley. I was extremely comfortable with my choice and certainly didn’t have to worry about anyone showing up in the same outfit!

Fashion Staple: Striped Mini Dress
I was recently invited to celebrate Lala Anthony’s birthday with X-Rated Fusion Liquor. It was an incredibly hot day so I was tempted to wear my striped dress as is. But I felt it was showing a little too much skin for Friday brunch at Bagatelle. So I used my little trick of turning a dress into a skirt by layering a high-neck blouse on top.
It ended up being the perfect outfit (a little sweet, a little sexy). And I had so much fun decorating a cake with my table for the birthday girl! You can check out some of my pics on Instagram. I’m @sydnesummer.

Fashion Staple: Striped Mini Dress
A few weeks ago I hosted a cabana at W Westwood‘s Swim at Escape. Although it was a cool night, the event was poolside, so I needed something extra summery. Stripes and neon seemed like the perfect solution. I added a nude bootie to lengthen my legs while still remaining casual and threw on some statement jewelry for good measure. Thanks to everyone who stopped by!
