ttF Fashion Diary: Streamlined Stripes

ttF Fashion Staple: Black Pencil Skirt
I think every woman should own a striped top. It adds a fun, sporty element to any outfit from laid-back jeans to more dressy pencil skirts. Instead of jewelry, I accented today’s look with a chain cross-body and added a pop of color with red heels. The candy apple nails were an unplanned matching coincidence.

Spring 2012 New York Fashion Week Trends: Stripes

Thick, thin, horizontal, vertical, sequined, colorful… spring had it all when it came to stripes. Some were left along, others were mixed with polka-dots and others mixed with more stripes! This first Tadashi dress was probably one of my favorite pieces of the season. Doesn’t it just scream Carrie Bradshaw?

ttF Blogger Staple: Laurie B. Style’s Striped Mini Skirt

Some people just make you smile when you talk to them. Laurie Brucker of Laurie B Style is one of those people. And her fashion makes you just as happy as her personality. So I of course had to ask the bubbly chic image consultant, stylist and fashion writer which staple she’s currently coveting.

The Staple: Navy and Red Striped Knit mini skirt

Who Makes It: Forever 21, but I found it at Crossroads trading company for $8 !!  Great deal!

Why I Chose It: What I love about this skirt is it is the perfect classic piece.  The navy and red are the epitome of classic, which means I can really create some fun options that mix the classic with the new age!  Plus with stripes being such a huge trend for Spring, there are too many fun options to play with.  Stripes with stripes, stripes with flowers, stripes with prints. Stripes with neon!  It’s endless styling possibilities. But I think the best part is the skirt is in a very sturdy knit fabrication which makes it not only comfortable and easy to move in, it also holds you in a bit without cinching too tight in at your waist.  So now I can have that last french fry at lunch… yes!

Where I’d Wear It: I’d wear it to a summer afternoon cocktail party on the rooftop of The Standard.  I’d wear it to see my favorite indie rock band at Hotel Cafe and I’d wear it to run my Sunday morning errands, and then hit up the Melrose Flea market.   I’d wear it all over Los Angeles, and that is exactly what I plan on doing!

ttF Fashion Diary: Sushi Stripes

ttF Fashion Staple: Brooch Necklace
I’ve been very into stripes recently, wearing them here and here and tonight, with my hot pink jacket I paired with a stripe dress back in August. Keeping with fall’s 70s trend, I slipped back on my wide-leg jeans for yet another night of delicious sushi. The sun was setting as I took the pics and if you look closely you can see yet another stripe in the sky: a pink that went so pretty with my jacket but vanished in the flash of my camera.
