ttF Fashion Diary: Dare 2 Care

ttF Fashion Staple: Velvet Blazer
Tonight, I was invited by Sheer Cover to attend Leeza Gibbons’ Dare2Care party. The gorgeous Sheer Cover spokeswoman teamed up with David Foster for a charitable pre-Oscar event at BOA on Sunset benefitting the Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation. I wanted to dress up for the special occasion but it’s freezing by LA standards. So I covered up with a velvet blazer. I originally bought this dress for a summer wedding, then ended up wearing it to my senior prom. Last year it came in handy during a Great Gatsby-themed bash. Just goes to show that it’s worth it investing in special dresses. You can restyle them year after year! Plus, leaf prints and embellishments were all over the runway at fashion week. So it looks like my dress is right back on trend.

I had such a blast with some of fave fellow bloggers including Queen of the QuarterLife Crisis‘ Jamie, Nadine of Nadine Jolie and Roxy of Red Carpet Roxy. We sipped signature cocktails by Ultimat Vodka, hung out in the Sheer Cover and InStyler touch up lounge and enjoyed a fab dinner while listening to a live performance by LeAnne Rimes. Not a bad start to Oscars week!

ttF Faves: Quick Switch: Velvet Blazer

Before I made this velvet blazer my staple for the month, I used it in one of my Quick Switch episodes for Mystyle. My gorgeous intern, Mara, looked so adorable in the jacket I ended up wearing a very similar outfit to her day look when I was in New York. Here are a few behind-the-scenes pics from the shoot with Mara and Amber, my talented makeup artist and blogger of The Magik Mirror.

ttF Fashion Diary: Errands Ease

ttF Fashion Staple: Velvet Blazer
This morning, I styled and modeled for Two Point Oh! LA’s Spring/Summer lookbook. Here’s a peek at the one we did last fall. After the shoot, I had to run errands downtown and I couldn’t have picked a better shoe to do it in. Tory Burch’s Eddie ballet flats literally felt like slippers as I popped into store after store. I usually steer clear of any shoe that has elastic around the ankle. But the leather is so incredibly soft that the snug fit doesn’t irritate the skin. I can’t believe I didn’t discover these earlier! They made running errands a complete ease.

ttF Fashion Diary: MoMA Dots

ttF Fashion Staple: Velvet Blazer
After attending 38 shows at fashion week, I wanted to spend my last day doing my favorite thing in New York, walking around a museum. After a yummy lunch with Amber aka the Beauty Blogging Junkie, I met a friend at MoMA. It was the first time in 10 days I put on flats and my feet felt like they were in heaven! On top, I mixed polka dots with velvet, leather leggings and a new ring I received at lia sophia’s fashion week lounge. It’s part of the new industrielle collection.

We had so much fun absorbing art on every floor, from Picasso’s Guitars exhibition to Andy Warhol’s Motion Pictures and pop art classics. Still, as I stared into Jackson Pollack’s abstract canvas I couldn’t help but think how gorgeous the print would be on a silk blouse. I guess my mind can never escape fashion!

After the museum, I ended my trip with a Don’t Feed the Models martini at the Empire Hotel. I slipped out out of my leather pants, threw on some jeans, added an oversize wrap and headed to the airport. Stay tuned for my trends recap from New York!
