Happy National Relaxation Day! To be honest, I’ve always had trouble relaxing. The only time I can truly relax is when I’m on the beach listening to crashing waves. Since I obviously can’t be near the ocean every day, over the years I’ve been practicing different relaxation techniques to reduce stress. In honor of the holiday, I wanted to share three relaxation tips that have helped me:
Oils & Scents
There are a bunch of different scents that help you relax. I’ve talked about how I use lavender oil to sleep better. But I also find lighting a candle that reminds me of the beach to be very relaxing. Another trick I use? Putting eucalyptus in the shower to create a mini spa at home.
breathe it in
I was introduced to This Works “Deep Sleep” collection with their Deep Sleep Breathe In oil roller ($33). It’s a mix of relaxing oils that you dab on your pulse points to decrease anxiety. The also have pillow sprays, bath oils and shower gels that deliver calming effect.
Meditation
I’ve been working on my mediation practice ever since meeting Yoga Girl last year. I still find it nearly impossible to focus in silence. But apps have majorly helped. My current favorite is HeadSpace. I did the free trial for a while and recently subscribed. They’re having a 40% off deal this week for first time subscribers. My goal is to surpass my 5-day mediation streak.
jot it down
On days I find it too difficult to meditate, I’ll try journaling. I like to have a special notebook to write down my thoughts. My gold one is almost filled so it’s time for a new one.
I love this “An Inspired Life” journal ($16). The blush marble goes with my decor and it’s filled with beautiful quotes to spark reflection.
Visualization
I learned about visualization when I started reading The Miracle Morning. The book has you visualize what you want in life. But I also use visualization to imagine myself in a more relaxed environment. I’ll close my eyes, take a few deep breaths and picture myself on the beach, listening to the crashing waves and feeling the sun warm my body. As I’m writing this, I think I’m going to try adding white noise of the ocean into my practice. I have a friend who says she can’t live without her white noise machine.
I have already used quite a lot of different ways to relax, relieve tension, and in General, to fall asleep calmly. The most interesting way that helped me a lot is the lavender foot patch. This was new to me, but I want to say that it is one of the most effective ways to fall asleep calmly and quickly after a hard day

Thank you for your advice. A trip to the SPA or an appointment for a massage can be a great idea on a day of relaxation. I often use these features when I can. On my trip to Singapore, I even tried foot massage and I really liked it. Now I’m thinking of trying to find a good salon in the States
