It’s the season of the sweater dress! A sweater dress is always one of my go-to pieces for colder months. They’re so easy to throw on and you can wear them so many ways from day to night. I just got this turtleneck sweater dress (it also comes in dark blue). I fell in love with the sleeves and couldn’t wait to wear it all different ways. Here are three ways to wear a sweater dress…

with a belt

Calling all petite girls: belting a sweater dress is the best styling trick. It guarantees that the dress won’t overwhelm your figure. For chunkier knits like my sweater dress, I prefer a skinnier belt. For thinner knits, I would do a thicker belt. Belting a dress also makes it shorter, perfect for showing off a little leg with over the knee boots.

with a jacket

For my second look, I kept the same over the knee boots and bag but ditched the belt. To balance out all the fabric, I added a cropped jacket. I have this suede moto jacket in three colors and I’m thinking of adding a fourth! My greenish-grey jacket is on sale right now. It’s also on sale in a ton of other colors, too.

as a top

For my last look, I turned my dress into a top by tucking it into a pair of jeans. The trick to making this work is to choose a thicker style denim. Then you simply tuck in a little of the front and a little of the back of the sweater. This also works best with a mini or knee-length sweater dress. Anything longer would be too fabric to tuck. Then I just added my snakeskin booties that I’ve been walking everywhere in. They’re so comfy!
