Shopping The Way We Wore’s Bi-Annual Sale

The Way We Wore Bi-Annual SaleToday I stopped by The Way We Wore‘s Bi-Annual Sale. For those of you not familiar with the store, it’s one the best vintage shops in Los AngelesDita von Teese and Debi Mazar recently hosted a charity auction there.  Every summer, the store puts their bottom floor on sale for 50% off. Their inventory ranges from white 1920s dresses that are so delicate I wanted to frame one and hang it in my bedroom to over-the-top 80s garb, like a Jean Paul Gautier black velvet mini with fabulously gaudy gold straps that luckily was nowhere near my size.

Speaking of size, today’s shopping trip reminded me that a number is just a number. I picked up this Emanuel Ungaro zebra print skirt ($125 $75) that was two sizes larger than I normally wear—but fits me like a glove. That’s why my rule of thumb when vintage shopping is if you like it, try it. You can always tailor it later.

I also found this snakeskin clutch ($125 $62.50) amidst baskets of discounted handbags, jewelry and scarves. I’ve been looking for an oversized clutch and I could never afford a Nancy Gonzalez, so this was perfect alternative. I’m also debating going back to buy a Martine Sitbon dress that I can’t stop thinking about. It’s sheer, flesh-colored and has the most glorious blue velvet pattern that from afar looks like an artist painted a masterpiece on my body. I can’t exactly afford it right now but I just can not get it out of my head!

Luckily, the sale runs through August 16th. So I still have time. Oh! And for every $100 you spend, you’re entered into a raffle to win a Lady Dior handbag! Sorry to anyone who doesn’t live in the area but I just had to share.

that clutch is so on point. I drool over Nancy gonzalez’s bags all the time. but at 2k+, it’s a no go.

I love that skirt. I actually found some similar fabric and am sewing myself a little pencil skirt. I thought it would be fun. We don’t get stuff like this in DC! :/
