I’ve been watching Project Runway since designer Jay McCarroll and my high school friend, model Julia Beynon, won in Season 1. And I’ve been hooked ever since. One of my favorite episodes is the HP Challenge, where designers use HP computers to create prints, which are later turned into custom textiles. So imagine my excitement when I was asked to speak at the Project Runway Designer Reunion pre-event panel during fashion week!
I joined Style Coalition‘s Yuli Ziv, Second City Style‘s Lauren Dimet Waters, HP’s Danielle Jones, This That Beauty‘s Felicia Walker and Style It‘s Sarah Conley on stage to talk about fashion and technology. We chatted about how fashion week has changed thanks to technology (Fashion GPS is my savior!), how tech has now become geek chic (thank you blogging world!) and our favorite apps (I’m currently obsessed with Vine!).
After the panel, it was time to head upstairs, where we were greeted by a model on the blue carpet wearing one of Mondo’s designs. I admit, I geeked out over some of my favorite past contestants, taking pictures and gushing over their creativity while clinking champagne glasses. One of my favorite parts of the party were the painted models, who featured prints from some of Project Runway‘s past winners, including Dmitry Sholokhov, who was absolutely dashing in person.
The next day, at the Style Coalition blogger lounge, I was able to share my photos with my blogging friends on ENVY x2 and even ePrint photos to the photosmart printers at the lounge. They joked with me about how I was a true California girl braving the snow in bare legs. Before the party, I even went sans coat to take some rooftop photos in my dress. Being surrounded by so many talented designers, I majorly had to bring my A-game that night.
