Anyone who follows my blog knows how much I love color. And DWJ of Art of Accessories is a pro at incorporating brights into her wardrobe. Two years ago, she took a white tee and black skirt from basic to bold with her accessorizing expertise. And now, she’s amping up the volume with a safari shirt.
The Staple: Kelly Green Safari Shirt
Who Makes It: DKNY (picked it up at TJ Maxx for $30 – original price tag said it was $175 – SCORE!)
Why I Chose It: I’ve realized if my outfit doesn’t have a great bold color and/or a graphic print to it I’m not happy. Kelly green is my absolute favorite color and wearing it always perks me up. This shirt was a no brainer. I saw it, it fit and it was a bargain price so I scooped it up knowing it would be a versatile piece in my wardrobe.
Where I’d Wear It:
1. Weekend brunch or out with the husband
The weather on the east coast has been a bit up and down so it’s not quite warm enough yet to have bare arms. This shirt serves as my alternative to a cardigan. Still just as put together and polished with a silk shirt but just something a little different. Plus the green color really pops against the graphic black and white.
2. Work
This really is a work staple kind of outfit. Great blouse, full leg trousers, flats or heels and a pretty necklace. I’d even loop my large strands of multicolored pearls with this shirt just to add more color and I’d definitely pair this shirt with any pair of neutral slacks I have in my wardrobe or with a skirt. A great pop of color to help perk up a Monday.
3. Weekend errands
Sometimes I think about how to really dress down a piece to make it work for every aspect of my life. For this silk shirt I’d add a casual and sparkly tank top and jeans to really make it work for running errands. That way I still look polished even though I’m out and about not doing anything major.
That striped dress is so great! Where’s it from?

Hi Ariana, I actually bought it at TJ Maxx. It’s a no name brand and was $30 but it fit me to perfection and I love anything in graphic black and white so I had to buy it 🙂
