ttF Scene: Crafternoons: Ombre Edition

Yesterday, I gave you a sneak peek into my afternoon of crafting at Casa de Glitter ‘N Glue. Laurie of Laurie B Style, Kelly of Buss Buss and myself went over to Kristen’s house for a dye party. Scroll through the pics to check out the DIY scene and the process of going ombré…

First up? You need to decide on a color. With Kristen’s large assortment of Rit Dye, we had trouble making a decision. We all stuck to jewel tones in the end. I dyed one of my ttF Fashion Staples from last September: a basic white Forever 21 tee.
After mixing the dye with warm water, you dip 1/3 of the the garment in and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Of course, it majorly helps the waiting process when there are snacks, like Kristen’s spiked lemonade and Kelly’s chocolate covered strawberries. Yum!
After 10 minutes, you dip another third of the garment and let sit for five minute. Laurie dyed her cotton fringe necklace and turned it into a really cool denim ombre.
You can also do two colors, like I did with my second tank to create an asymmetrical Lakers pattern.
When you’re done, you ring out the garment like a towel.
Then you set it to dry.
And voila! Your basic scarves, tanks, tees and tunics are now ombré.
