Recurring theme lately: Wear what makes you happy.

After the midlife women at Del Mar Opening Day inspired me to have fun with fashion, I DIYed a flower fascinator for afternoon tea at Fairmont Grand Del Mar. My niece wanted to DIY one too. When her mom asked her who she was wearing, Sky looked up confused and answered, “I’m wearing this.”

Maybe it has nothing to do with age like we chatted about on Substack. Maybe it’s simply how society conditioned us. And I’m the first one to admit blame. In my twenties, I reported on celebrity fashion. I can’t remember how many times I asked the question on the red carpet: “Who are you wearing?”

The question I ask these days?

One of my fave activities in San Diego is afternoo

One of my fave activities in San Diego is afternoon tea at Fairmont Grand Del Mar. Now that Del Mar racing season is underway they’re doing a Derby theme.

Festive hats, southern inspired sandwiches (hello hot honey fried chicken), any my niece’s fave: decadent deserts. How cute is that gold brushed horse shoe?!

It’s going through July 26 in the lobby lounge. Thanks for having us @fairmontgranddelmar!

Watching the women at Del Mar races opening day parade around in feathers, tulle, prints, and bold colors reminded me of why I fell in love with fashion. And it had nothing to do with designers. It was my first time going to Opening Day at the D

It was my first time going to Opening Day at the Del Mar Races. When it comes what to wear and what to bring to the track, these are the 5 things that I think are worth the money:

1. The women wearing stilettos looked like they wanted to cry
2. it’s hot. I’m oily. enough said.
3. I’ve had this one for years!
4. a hydrating hand santizer (bonus: it smells delish)
5. seeing the fascinators and hats at the races was right up there with people watching at fashion week. I can’t believe it took me this long to go to opening day for racing season!

I didn’t know how much I needed female energy in m

I didn’t know how much I needed female energy in my life until 10 pounds of it plopped into my arms.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved being a boy mom to Preston and Jack Jack. And I miss Chubbs so much. But I didn’t realize how much I needed some feminine energy in my life until I adopted Bijou. She’s delicate and soft but man she is strong. These past couple of months have been a daily reminder that no matter what we look like on the outside, we as women truly are resilient.

Thank you to @bornagainanimalrescue for saving this beautiful soul.

Last week, I walked in 4-inch heels from my old life. They killed my feet.
