I hate drop waist dresses… for my body type. I know hate is a strong word, but the silhouette literally takes my body from petite with curves on bottom to oh look at my wide hips and pooch.

I’ve learned to love my curves, but I don’t need ALL the attention to go there. And I get why my postpartum pooch came back in my 40s, but I don’t need it on display.

I will always opt for a dress that cinches at the waist over one that makes me feel uncomfortable (even if it is on trend).

Two Mother’s Days ago we did this exact same thing. A stranger took a photo of us and airdropped it to me. It’s my favorite photo. Pure luck that someone captured that moment. So this time, I camouflaged my phone in his beach bucket and pressed record… and I’ve been coming back to it ever since. 💛

It became way harder shopping for denim shorts in my 40s. I don’t want anything too short, too distressed, or too tight anymore. But I also don’t want to look matronly. These two baggy, high-rise pairs work for my petite figure with curves on bottom. I did normal sizing in the Old Navy and Curve Love in Abercrombie. Their curve love line is so great if you have a smaller waist and bigger hips and butt like me.
