Earth Month Day 8: Melissa Shoes

Brazilian imports are all the rage: Gisele, caprihanas, waxing, açaí berries… and plastic shoes. Yes, all the footwear above is sculpted from plastic. I know what you’re thinking. Isn’t plastic the opposite of eco-friendly? That’s what I thought, too. But Melissa shoes are made from Melflex, a special formula developed in their lab that is hypoallergenic, natural and, most importantly, recyclable.

I’m obsessed with their clear Ultragirl ballet flats ($69). They’re the perfect shoe for a 21st century Cinderella. It’s just too bad they don’t come with a Brazilian Prince Charming!

I like the gold ones on the bottom. I just don’t know if I’d want 2 spend that much on plastic.
