I’m a big fan of gold eye makeup. It just goes so well with a summer tan. But I was surprised to hear that for the MTV Movie Awards, MAX Factor celebrity makeup artist, Jake Bailey, only used gold to line Lo Bosworth‘s bottom lashes (pictured on top). I usually dust gold eyeshadow on my lids. I never thought of using it to line my eyes.

Bailey wanted to create a simple eye to go with the reality star’s bright lips. I followed Bailey’s advice and gave it a try myself (pictured on bottom). I didn’t have the same products as he used for Lo so I substituted Chanel eye shadow in Slate with Stila eyeshadow in Cloud to swipe on my lids. I then wet a brush and lined my lower Lashes with the gold from my Stila Gold Glow eyeshadow trio since I didn’t have MAX Factor MAXeye Liner in Gilt Complex. I topped it all off with two coats of mascara as recommended. I think this is going to be my new day eye. It’s subtle but the stripe of gold adds a glam factor, perfect for days when I have to go straight from work to an event.
