When I lived in Boston, I used to shop at Karen Millen every time I visited Copley Place. The UK brand has beautifully tailored clothing, and very unique since they have limited stores in the United States. Today, I popped into their San Diego store during an impromptu shopping trip. Even though I have no need for it, I fell in love with this Karen Millen satin sleeved dress ($380 $175). It reminded me of the dramatic shoulders I adored on Dolce & Gabbana‘s runway—the ones I could only afford in my dreams. This dress wasn’t cheap, but on sale it was doable. Now I just need someone to invite me to a fabulous event so I can wear it!

*Update: I just saw on Red Carpet Fashion Awards that comediennes Amy Poehler and Kathy Griffin wore the same Karen Millen dress earlier this month. Now I like the dress even more. Not because celebrities wore it, but because it looks completely different depending on your body type. I’ll upload a photo later this week to show how I plan on wearing mine.
