ttF Fashion Staples Series Outfit #5: May Lacey Nudes

I based my May staples around spring’s nude trend and played with different textures. It’s a very girlie month with trendy lace, tulle, silk and rosettes in soft beige and blush tones. Here’s the breakdown of the 6 Fashion Staples I’ll be wearing at least 6 Different times for the next 31 days:

1. Ruffle Cardigan (J. Crew)
A feminine sweater softens denim and adds texture to a basic dress. I’ve had this cardi for over a year now and still get compliments every time I wear it. The three quarter length sleeve is perfect for transitioning from the cold office to a warm spring day.

2. Ring Necklace (Vintage)
As much fun as jewelry can be, it’s always nice to have a few pieces that are sentimental. I took my father’s ring from the 70s and wear it on a delicate, long gold chain to always have him close by. It’s a nice way to remember someone. I just don’t recommend it with your engagement ring. We all know how well that worked out for Carrie Bradshaw.

3. Lace Top (Nanette Lepore)
There’s nothing more romantic than a lace top. I prefer high neck ones with silk camisoles underneath. They’re subtly sexy and don’t look too much like lingerie.

4. Tortoise Shell Wayfarers (Persol)
A classic wayfarer frame never goes out of style. And tortoise shell works no matter what color you die your hair. Like most people, I’m a fan of Ray-Bans, but I found these narrower Persol shades to be more flattering for my oval face shape.

5. Lace Skirt (Forever 21)
A flouncy skirt makes lace playful and flirty. This mini is a little bit shorter than I usually wear but that just means boy shorts underneath are a necessity.

6. Nude Mesh Peep Toes (Betsey Johnson)
So many people are obsessed with Christian Louboutin’s nude peep-toes. Yes, they lengthen the leg. But red soles have become so mainstream over the past couple of years. That’s why I was drawn to these Betsey Johnson Alexandra Heels($179 $161.10). You get the same long, lean, leggy look but the rosettes add a unique touch. And the mesh is much more breathable than leather.
