ttF Fashion Diary: Backwards Day

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Backwards Day
Today was such a backwards day. For starters, it felt like winter and it’s just the beginning of fall. Since it was so freezing, I needed layers. I loved the way this metallic sweater looked with my feminine skirt, socks and tough booties. The only problem is the v-neck is so deep that you must wear something underneath. But that ruined the outfit. So I pulled an Angelina Jolie and wore the sweater backwards, giving it a high neckline and a low back. This back to front trick is coming in really handy when I have to cover up for the office.

Theory sweater, D2K jacket, Marc Jacobs skirt, Target socks, Tory Burch Halima bootie

Um, this is the worst outfit I’ve ever seen. The socks contrast horribly with the skirt, the sweater is cheap and looks like it came from Express– and you managed to ruin those adorable Tory Burch boots w this outfit. Fashion rookies should stick to the basics– why not a pair of skinnies, white tank, and blazer w these boots? Thoughts?

Laura, a basic combo of skinny jeans and a blazer would definitely be a great choice. But the wonderful thing about fashion is you can go for all different looks, which is what my blog is about. One day, I might go simple with skinny jeans and a turtleneck to show off the boots:

The next I’ll try cuffed jeans:

And to switch it up, I’ll go for a look like this one that you do not like, and contrast and mix patterns and textures.

While basic is indeed beautiful, to get the most use out of your wardrobe you need to step outside the box sometimes. Fashion is all about experimentation.

If you need some inspiration to switch up basics check out my ttf Fashion Staples Series: http://www.thinkthrufashion.com/ttf-fashion-staples-series/

Hope that helps and thanks for visiting the blog!
