When it’s cold and rainy, dressing is up is that last thing on your mind. But tonight’s Unregrettable Evening, hosted by Whitney Port, Shop It To Me and Premium Return Protection from American Express, was for a good cause. A generous contribution was being made to the Los Angeles based charity Beyond Shelter. And guests were donating clothing and accessories to help women get back on their feet. So I wasn’t about to let a little dampness damper my mood.

And I’m thrilled I attended! First, I learned Whitney and I have the same favorite spring trend. “I’m loving neon colors,” she tells me. If you remember, I just did neon colorblocking while on vacay. Her second fave? Denim on denim. “Find denims that aren’t the exact same hues. Look for mismatched blues,” she recommends when trying out this tricky trend.

Whitney also had advice about how to make smart shopping purchases. The entire event was essentially based around thinking thru fashion. The Terrace at the Sunset Tower Hotel was lined with Whitney’s picks of fashion staples that you’d never regret buying: a LBD, skinny jeans and a colorful blazer from her line Whitney Eve. But what really caught my eye were the blonde’s Giuseppe Zanotti leopard wedges, which she paired with an Alexander Wang dress found via Shop It To Me.

Perhaps the coolest part of the night though was the shopping. Guest received a $50 American Express gift card to spend via Shop It To Me’s helpful sale suggestions. I got too overwhelmed making a decision at the computers provided at the bash. But this weekend I plan on making a purchase I certainly won’t regret.
