The safari trend is perfect for transitioning from summer into fall. The neutrals pop against a tan but you can also use them later as layering pieces as it gets colder. So they’re great investments for your wardrobe.
Here’s the breakdown of the 6 Fashion Staples I’ll be wearing at least 6 different times for the next 31 days.
And check out my YouTube channel for an Up Close look at each piece!
1. Tribal Necklace (Carolee)
I fell in love with this Spice It Up bib necklace from Carolee’s LUX collection. The red aventurine and tiger’s eye stones add an understated pop of color and the antique looking gold goes with everything from jeans to a cocktail dress. It’s a statement piece that’s a nice alternative to the standard bling.
2. Military Jacket (Banana Republic)
After seeing military jackets on so many blogs I just had to have one of my own. Banana Republic was having a 40% off sale and I spotted this cotton version from their Heritage collection. I was always worried about these style jackets looking too boxy but the tie-front waist solves that problem.
3. Canvas Belt (Forever 21)
Waist belts are one of my favorite accessories to show off a woman’s figure. The canvas and leather mix is a casual take on the staple.
4. Olive Dress (Michelle Jonas Travelwear)
I was recently introduced to Michelle Jonas’ clothing and could not be more ecstatic! She designs her pieces with travel in mind, so you can roll up your dress and don’t have to worry about a steamer or iron. Plus, they don’t require dry cleaning and are softer than words.
5. Taupe Bag (Foley + Corinna)
You’ve seen my old Mid City tote all over ThinkThruFashion. I’ve worn it in New York here, here , here, here and here, in Memphis here and in LA here, here, here, here, here and here. I wore it so much it was time for a replacement. This convertible bag can be worn so many different ways and the neutral color goes with everything.
6. Snakeskin Wedges (Sole Society)
When these shoes showed up in my Sole Society closet I knew they had to be mine. They have the ease of a gladiator while still adding height with a comfortable wedge. Plus, the neutral color is close enough to my skin tone that they don’t cut me off at the ankle.
love the staples series & the pieces for august! i can’t wait to get my hands on a foley + corinna bag! i’ve seen another blogger use it & i’ve become obsessed! thanks for always posting great outfits! (i also watch you on E!) =)
