In the beginning of the year, one of my New Years resolutions was to keep a gratitude journal. I’ll admit I didn’t keep it up as well as I had hoped. So I figured Thanksgiving was the perfect time to get back into being thankful every day. This morning, before I left for San Diego to spend the holiday with my family, I took out my gratitude journal and wrote for ten minutes. I’m going to try to get back into jotting down at least one thing a day. Here’s an excerpt from my notebook of eight things I’m thankful for:
1. Bunny Kisses
There’s nothing like unconditional love. One of the best things I ever did was rescue my dog, Bunny Bell. She’s been with me through everything and manages to bring a smile to my face even on my worst days. I’m so sad she can’t spend Thanksgiving with us this year. I was a couple weeks behind on her vaccines and she caught kennel cough. So she’ll be spending Thanksgiving with the cats at our vet (don’t worry, I’ve been spoiling her with chicken every day for the past week!). It’s a huge lesson for me to make sure moving forward she’s always up to date on her shots. I just wanted to share it in case any of you are dog owners too!
2. Motherly Love
My mom is my best friend. I feel so lucky to have such an incredible role model to guide me through life’s obstacles. We talk at least once a day and I’d feel lost without her. I’m also thankful that she’s taking photography lessons. Get ready for some more fab mother-daughter trips in the New Year!
3. My Everything
This is my boyfriend’s first Thanksgiving with my family and I couldn’t be more excited! You guys don’t get to see him too much on my blog and social media because he’s very private but trust me, he’s amazing! I feel so lucky to have met my soul mate and can’t wait for many more holidays together.
4. Fatherly Support
The other man in my life is my step-dad. My father passed away when I was younger and my step-dad has been there for me ever since I met him as a teenager. I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without his support.
5. Girl Power
Many of my best friends live on the East Coast. Even though I don’t get to see them as often as I’d like, knowing that they’re there for me is the best feeling in the world. I also have incredible friends in LA. I feel so lucky to have a group of girls I can call up for advice, support or just to laugh about something we saw on Instagram.
6. Blogging & Brands
They say that if you love what you do, you’ll never have to work another day in your life. I am so thankful that I’m able to have a career that I love. I wake up every day excited about inspiring women to feel better about themselves through fashion. And I feel so lucky that I’m able to achieve that through my work. I’m also thankful to all the brands who give me the opportunity to bring my visions to life for all of you.
7. Travel Therapy
Recently I’ve been doing more travel and I couldn’t be happier. My Paris trip truly rejuvenated me and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2017.
8. My Sydne Style Fam
I am SO thankful for all of you! Without you, none of this would ever be possible. I read each and every one of your comments on my blog, social media and YouTube channel. Thank you to all my readers who have been with me from the beginning. And thank you to all my new readers who have joined down the line. I hope I can continue to inspire you every day and you mean the world to me!
