I don’t know what the temperatures are like where you live, but in LA it’s been crazy hot! So as I excited as I am about upcoming Fall trends, the thought of actually wearing them hasn’t been a focal point. That is, until I spotted Kristin Cavallari over on The Budget Babe rocking the cutest plaid set in NYC. This inspired me to do a post on how to wear plaid in the summer, which is entirely possible even in this LA heat.
I loved the Alexander McQueen plaid mini dress and blazer the reality star wore to promote her new E! show, Very Cavallari. It was the perfect mix of business sophistication with a touch of sex appeal. While shopping the other day, I spotted this plaid mini dress for only $18. I remembered a plaid blazer I wore last fall and thought the two would pair very well together. I was right: the prints were almost an exact match!
While it’s still hot, I’m wearing the dress alone with my go-to black ankle strap sandals (now on sale!). But as it cools down, I can drape the blazer on top like Kristin. I can also see the look with black boots in a couple of months. If you don’t own a plaid blazer yet, I definitely recommend in picking one. It’s such a versatile piece you can wear year after year.
