Since we can’t go to nail salons right now, I thought it was the perfect time to talk about at-home manicures. It’s amazing what a fresh mani can do for your mood. And luckily, so many of the spring nail trends are easy to do at home. Here are four of my favorite nail trends in case you want to treat yourself to a manicure at home this weekend:
Pastels in general are huge for spring. And nails are one of the easiest ways to hop on the trend. Elizabeth and I are wearing colors from Essie’s Spring collection. I did the minty “Can Dew Attitude” and Elizabeth went with the lilac “Spring in Your Step.” I’m more classic with my manis so I generally prefer to stick with one color at at time. But you can always do multiple color pastels for an Easter egg mani like Elle.
Speaking of multiple color polishes, ombre nails are huge right now. Usually they’re done in a gradient, using one color and going from the darkest to lightest shade of that color on each nail. You can keep in understated, like Sophie did with various shades of light pink. Or, try 2020’s biggest color, blue.
The French manicure has made a major comeback this year. And any type of French goes from the classic French manicure to the more modern minimalist French manicure Betina created at New York Fashion Week. If you want something more playful, try colorful tips, like Queenie’s fun pink design.
modern polka dots
Like pastels, polka dots are huge for fashion and beauty this spring. But when it comes to nails, the most popular types of dots seem to be the minimalist dot. And that’s a good thing because they’re way easier to do! To recreate Alicia’s singular dot design, all you need is a dotting pen and your favorite nail polish color. I also like this pearl dot inspo I saw on Bellacures. With pearl stickers it would be so easy to do!
