Today marks Lunar New Year. This year is the Lunar New Year of the Ox. I love learning about other cultures so I did some research on what the ox symbolizes. Here are some random facts I found interesting on the Lunar New Year of the Ox:
- The two main characteristic of the animal are strength and determination, which seem pretty fitting for this year. We all need more strength after 2020!
- There are lots of famous people who are Oxes ranging from Princess Diana and Barack Obama to Kylie Jenner and Kate Moss.
- Ox years are especially great for marriage. So if you’re in a relationship that is heading to the alter, this might just be your year to get that ring!
So how do you celebrate Lunar New Year? There’s great articles about the best ways to celebrate Lunar New Year (I think Oprah Mag did a great job of breaking down Lunar New Year traditions). As for me? I’m going to have dumplings and wear red. It’s China’s good luck color and whatever our nationality is, we could all use some extra good luck this year.
Here are some red outfit ideas to get you inspired…. and Happy Lunar New Year to all those who celebrate!
