If I had a choice of splurging on jewelry, a handbag or shoes I’d 100% choose shoes—as long as those shoes weren’t booties. They’ve been trendy season after season but I never liked the way booties cut off the leg. I remember seeing Gisele in a pair during her Victoria’s Secret days. If they could make a glamazon’s legs appear shorter I was frightened what they could do to my 5’3 frame.
But recently, I’ve found myself wishing I had a pair.
I just bought a few mini skirts and I feel too naked in sandals—and too pre-makeover Pretty Woman in knee-high boots. Not wanting too spend too much money on a trend I don’t love I went on a hunt for affordable booties that didn’t look cheap.
My first stop was Forever 21. But their $24.80 booties looked like they were only $24.80. Same thing happened at Wet Seal and I’ve never liked the quality at Charlotte Russe so I didn’t even waste my time there. My last stop was Payless. And that’s where I struck gold. I could not believe the Alice + Olivia for Payless booties I had on were only $38.
Of course, I bought them without hesitation—and since I love wearing my purchases as soon as I can I slipped them on that night (with this outfit to the left). My friend was in shock when I told her they were from Payless. “Would you mind if I get them too?” she asked when I revealed the price. I usually hate wearing the same things as my friends but I couldn’t do something as selfish as keeping this great find to myself.
If you want the booties as well, call your local Payless before driving over. Not every location carries the Alice + Olivia line. But you can order them online with free in-store shipping. All I ask in return for this info is you send me a picture of yourself wearing the shoes so I can see how you thought thru the booties.
Forever 21 Inga cardigan, Target boys’ reversible belt, Alice + Olivia for Payless booties, Botkier clutch, Maya Brenner Zodiac Pisces neckace, bangles from London necklace
They’re fantastic! I’ve ogled the A&O line for Payless, but am holding out for the fall offerings.
Are they comfy, too?

It’s okay! For such high platforms they are very comfortable. I bought true to size but I have narrow feet so I put in a little insert for extra padding.

Can’t wait for the Christian Siriano for Payless line that’s coming out in the fall… despite… yeah. They also have VERY similar booties to the ones you have above at Target that seemed quite comfy from the reviews… as well as many other cute shoes! I have a pair of pewter heels from abaete from payless that I just adore… feels like I’m wearing hard cardboard shoes but they’re so fab I don’t care!
