Cinco de Mayo makes me think of cheesy yumminess and sombreros, not usually sophistication. But I recently got an email from a friend introducing me to Corzo tequila’s “tasteful Cince de Mayo” concoctions. So I thought I’d share two of the recipes in case you were planning to have a little cocktail hour tonight and want an alternative to shots and cerveza. Just don’t nix the nachos. That’s the best part of the Mexican holiday.
Corzo White Sand
1 ½ parts Corzo Silver (or another premium tequila of your choice)
1 ½ parts White Grape Juice
¾ parts St. Germain
¾ parts sweet and sour
Add all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a martini glass. White sugar ¼ of the glass rim if desired.
Blackberry Brisa
1 ½ part Corzo Silver (or another premium tequila of your choice)
¾ parts club soda
½ part lime juice
½ part Agave nectar or simple syrup
5 or 6 springs of mint
4 blackberries
Muddle blackberries, mint and simple syrup. Add Corzo Silver, lime juice and ice. Shake & strain into a Collins glass filled with ice. Top with club soda.
