Taking inspiration from Cameron Diaz, I’ve style my own red, white and blue outfits for this Fourth of July weekend. And this time I added handbag options, per the request of reader pinktulip.
1. Night on the Town
I originally planned on spending July 4th in Miami so I planned this outfit for clubbing. The dress is actually a tunic in two sizes bigger than I normally wear. I was drawn to it because the tiered ruffles have so much movement.
Forever 21 strapless ruffle knit tunic, vintage navy belt, CC Skye thin buckle bracelet, Cole Haan embossed clutch, Steve Madden peep-toes
A cotton dress is a no-brainer for the summer and a jean jacket is very on trend.
Express dress, Gap jean jacket, KORS Michael Kors sandals, tote compliments of Coppertone
I love mixing patterns. Here, I’ve played up the thick stripes of my hobo with the thin lines on my shirt.
Banana Republic button-down, Chip & Pepper jean skirt, Gucci handbag, Colin Stuart sandals
I used to watch the fireworks in Boston Common and made the mistake one year of wearing a skirt, which made sitting on the ground a nuisance. A pair of capris are cooler than a long pair of jeans and a slip on shoe is ideal for running around in the grass.
CK cami, Forever 21 top, Urban Outfitters necklace, Bulga bag, Kosiuko jean, Rubber Duck espadrilles
I just bought this linen skirt, which looks like denim from a distance. The lightweight material allows me to wear a pencil skirt during the summer, either in the office or out to lunch.
Forever 21 tee, Rebecca Taylor skirt, So Good jewelry necklace, vintage bangle, Gucci purse, Banana Republic wedges
It may be cheesy, but I think it’s fun to go on full-on nautical when I’m on a boat. And a large tote is a must for a change of clothes.
Retribution tank, Forever 21 sailor shorts, grandfather’s watch, Steve Madden gladiators, bag from Mercedes Benz Swim Fashion Week in Miami
