I need a cute jacket for going out, any suggestions? I have this pleather motorcycle jacket from H&M last year but I feel like its kind of worn out even though I love it! —Devora, New York City
The great thing about leather, faux or real, is that usually the more worn it gets, the cooler it looks. If you love your H&M jacket, keep wearing it. But if you want something new, try either a similar moto jacket in a lighter color, a cropped denim jacket or a boyfriend blazer.
#1: The Motorcycle Jacket
Whenever I shop at Loehmann’s I usually leave with something I never expected to buy. Sometimes it works out, like the time I found two D2k metallic suede jackets for about $50. I wear the navy one in winter and the beige one all summer. Here, I’ve styled it with a Laundry embellished tank, Forever 21 pyramid stud jeans, Jimmy Choo slingbacks and a silver bracelet from Bulgaria. Get a similar look with Bebe’s metallic jacket or go for white, which is huge for fall. A bright color or neutral is also a great alternative to black.

#2: The Jean Jacket
A cropped denim jacket is extremely versatile for summer. Nicole Richie wears a Paige Vermont jacket with maxi dresses for day night; Rihanna prefers to pair her Current/Elliott jean jacket with leather pants and a Helmut Lang cropped version with miniskirts, Chloë Sevigny wears her Wrangler denim jacket with flirty bustier dresses; and here I’ve style my jean jacket—which I bought at Gap Kids almost 10 years ago—with an American Apparel cotton dress, lia Sophia necklace, MICHAEL Michael Kors Berkley sandals and assorted gold rings.

#3: The Boyfriend Blazer
The boyfriend blazer is still going strong. During the winter, I paired this Theory blazer with a dress and tights, but for warmer months, I’ve taken inspiration from Kate Bosworth, Chloë Sevigny and Emma Roberts in Chloé and styled in with Express shorts, a silk cami, an Urban Outfitters locket necklace and Steve Madden sandals for a sexy nighttime suit look.
