I was joking when I wrote that Armani hearts the Los Angeles Lakers. But Pamella DeVos really was inspired by a basketball team when creating the Pamella Roland spring collection. Only it wasn’t the Lakers, it was their NBA Finals rivals. “Over the past three years we have seen this team grow to championship level and we are very excited about this season,” the designer says of the Orlando Magic. “When I started designing my 2009 Spring Collection at the end of 2008 NBA season, one of the inspirations was their strong team colors—the bright ocean blue (aka—Magic blue), the clean crisp whites and the metallic silver sheen.”
If you’re rooting for the underdogs like the DeVos family, you’re in luck because there really are adorable (and affordable!) accessories from starry jewelry to a blue obi belt that I could picture wearing over a little white dress. Plus, according to Pantone (the authority on color trends), Palace Blue is one of the top colors for spring/summer. It “takes a steadfast, classic, spring navy-like tone and makes it sparkle.” I might sparkle in some of these finds—once this championship series is over, of course. Right now, I’m sticking to my purple and gold.
