ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Pre-Oscar Champagne
I bought this dress on sale last June and have been dying to wear it ever since. Tonight was the perfect opportunity. I went for a monochromatic look with nude pumps, gold pearl earrings and a gold and crystal link bracelet. And I think a bright clutch is the perfect way to add a pop of color to a neutral outfit.

My first stop of the evening was a private estate in Bel Air for the 3rd Annual Women in Film event hosted by MAC Cosmetics and Perrier-Jouët. Attendees included Viola Davis, Gabourey Sidibe, the gorgeous Camilla Belle and my new girl crush Angie Harmon, who made me blush when she told me how much she adored my dress (she looked like a knockout herself in purple Dior).

After toasting with some bubbly I headed down the hill for Vanity Fair‘s annual Art of Elysium auction. There, my outfit garnered more attention, which will happen if you go for a poofy shoulder, skin-tight dress. Speaking of tight, I brought my Spanx mid-thigh shapers out of hiding. They did their job cinching my waist and smoothing away any imperfection but just a tip: if you’re going to wear shapewear, don’t have too many glasses of champagne. Bloating is not comfortable with so much suction.

Then again, every once in a while if you love the way you look, it’s okay to suffer a little for fashion.
