ttF Fashion Staples Series Outfit #6: June Animal

Animal prints were all over the spring runways. And since then, celebrities just can’t get enough  of the trend. In just the past few months, Zoe Saldana and Kate Moss showed off stylishly spotted feet, Rihanna stepped out in a colorblock cat print, AnnaLynne McCord clutched on to leopard while Nicole Richie draped herself in the print. And Jennifer Lopez tops them all with her devout love for snakes and exotic felines. So for June, I’m channeling J-Lo with a zoo of staples.

Don’t worry, I DO NOT plan on wearing them all together like the singer. Here’s the breakdown of the 6 Fashion Staples I’ll be wearing at least 6 Different times for the next 30 days:

1. Snow Leopard Cardigan (Banana Republic)
I’ve had this sweater for years. The three-quarter length makes it seasonless. And the light gray print is soft enough to bedazzle with bold jewelry without looking like you’re one of the Houswives of New Jersey.

2.  Colorful Leopard Top (BDG)
I bought this blouse back in November at one of Urban Outfitters’ crazy sales. I think was only $15. The splotches of teal are a more subtle take on the bold, bright 80s-style leopard.

3. Leopard Scarf (Vintage)
This used to be my mom’s. It’s such an incredibly versatile piece and works great for winter or summer. A lot of celebrities are major fans of the leopard scarf for this very reason.

4. Snake Ring (Fierce)
Snake jewelry has been popular for years but it’s just continuing to expand. This ring features a diamond-eating green-eyed snake, much like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s philanthropic line for Asprey—just way less expensive.

5. Zebra Print Skirt (Vintage Emanuel Ungaro)
I bought this skirt at one of The Way We Wore’s bi-annual sales. It’s been almost a year and I still haven’t worn it. I’m fine with cheetah and leopard, but zebra is a little more intimidating. I wanted to make it a staple to force myself to face my black and white stripe fear.

6. Leopard Heels (Betsey Johnson)
I actually tried these shoes on at Nordstrom’s in bright pink. They were cute but they were a little too Paris Hilton for my taste. The classic print works better with the satin material. I’ve only worn them once but so far, they’ve been pretty comfortable, thanks to a generous platform. The Astra sandals are on sale now at Zappos.

And yes, Bunny insisted on crashing my photo shoot again when she heard the word animal.
