I’m into the colorblocking, but what is the general rule/advice on accessories and colorblocking? Is it best to keep it simple, with understated silver/gold/neutrals? Or wear bright accessories that make another colorblocking statement? ? —Dalton
Great question Dalton! There isn’t a definitive rule to colorblocking. It really depends on how much of a statement you want to make. If you want a more conservative look, stick to neutral accessories. Rose gold or bronze are great choices as they don’t distract as much from the colorblocking as silver or gold. Black adds some edge to brights, which is great for nighttime.
Personally, I like to add at least one extra dose of color to the mix with one bold accessory. Now notice I said one. For example, if I have an orange and pink colorblock dress, I’ll pump up the volume with a coordinating orange necklace or sandal. Or, if I’m feeling a little bolder, I’ll go with a contrasting color pump or handbag. A bright lip is another way to add to the colorblock look. But if I did a bright lip I’d do a neutral shoe and purse. The point is to have fun, not to mimic Rainbow Bright.
