As my best DIY diva friend Kristen said on her blog, what’s more American than cherry pie? Ok, so the expression is apple pie—but cherries are so much cuter. While deciding on my July ttF Fashion Staples, I stopped by her house and fell in love with her Moschino-inspired cherry necklace (check it out on Glitter N Glue). I took some of Kristen’s extra cherries, a couple of clip-on earrings backs and did my own DIY at my house. Here’s how to make your very own cherry shoe clips:
What you need:
– 10 plastic cherries (found at your local craft store)
– 2 clip-on earrings backs
– red felt
– glue gun
Cut a small piece of felt. Then, cut the stems off the cherries. Glue four cherries on to the felt and let dry.
Fill the hole between the four cherries with glue and place the fifth cherry on top. Let dry. Then, glue the earring back on the opposite side of the felt.

They actually don’t bother me. But if you find them uncomfortable, a ThinkThruFashion reader suggested attached mole skin to the back of the clip so it doesn’t irritate the skin. Pretty genius!
