Last July, I went with All-American denim. So this year, I decided to go literal with red, white and blue. The patriotic colors are so crisp for summer and styled correctly, you’ll never look like an American flag.
Here’s the breakdown of the 6 Fashion Staples I’ll be wearing at least 6 different times for the next 31 days:
1. Tan Striped Tee (Club Monaco)
Stripes have been on trend for a while now. For a more subtle take, I did tan and white lines. The color scheme works oh so well with a fresh summer glow. And the lightweight cotton beat the seasonal heat.
2. Navy Blazer (Aqua)
I bought this blazer during one of Bloomingdales’ Friends & Family sales. You can never have too many blazers, in my opinion. They instant add a polished look to any outfit from jeans to mini dresses.
3. Colorful Bangles (Mango Tree)
A wrist full of bangles is an easy way to inject a pop of color into your look. I was recently introduced to Mango Tree, who’s bracelets are hand carved from mango trees by artisans in Thailand. Thanks to the cuff style and multiple sizing, they deliver the perfect fit.
4. Red Jeans (J Brand)
You’ve seen colorful J Brand jeans on ThinkThruFashion here and here. They are incredibly comfy and a fun alternative to basic denim.
5. Red Leather Bag (Gucci)
This bag is almost 10 years old. When it comes to splurging, I always go for classics. And what’s more classic than a red leather handbag with Gucci’s signature striping?
6. Cherry Shoe Clips (ttF DIY)
Instead of doing a pair of shoes for this month’s staple, I created these shoe clips to update old pairs in my closet. Cherries just bring a happy American feeling to footwear. You can read how to make them in this ttF DIY post.
I am so excited to see how you work your red jeans! I’ve been eyeing bright and colourful jeans everywhere but haven’t bought any because I’m not sure how to “work” them. I’m sure that you’ll be giving me a lot of inspiration:)
