TRESemmé Throwback: 60s Mod

Sydne Style Tresemme Throwback Thursday Jean Shrimpton how to dress 60s mod Swinging London

The 60s made a major comeback this year. Every fashion magazine featured some type of checkerboard print or A-line shift dress. I personally adore the trend. It was a decade when women took fashion risks—and dressed to the nines for swanky dinner parties. It was also a decade of fabulous hair.

Supermodel Jean was the epitome of Swinging London and my inspiration for today’s TRESemmé Throwback Thursday. The secret weapon to this look? TRESemmé Fresh Start Dry Shampoo.

I started with dirty hair. Ok, not dirty, just not freshly washed. I needed to refresh and revive my locks in addition to adding some texture to get that 60s volume. The first step was creating a deep side part. Next, I went crazy with the dry shampoo, first spraying it at my roots, and then creating a cloud all over my head (a trick I learned from TRESemmé stylist Tyler Laswell). Side note: don’t forget to shake the dry shampoo before using!

The next step was to heavily tease and hairspray my roots. I used TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Finishing Spray, which provides long-lasting hold but also delivers shine, which is key for the Mod look. After teasing, I used a flat iron to get rid of any waves and create a bit of a flip at the bottom. Then I returned to the TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Finishing Spray to set everything in place. The great part about the hairspray is you can really layer it without getting dreaded helmet head.

Taking inspiration from the supermodel, I slipped on a little 60s-inspired mini dress. I didn’t want to go too literal, so I kept my makeup fairly neutral with a pop of pale pink at my lip. The result? A modern sixties look, perfect for a summer soiree!
