Spring isn’t just a season for new fashion. It’s also a season for special occasions. I don’t know about you but I already have three wedding save-the-dates on my calendar, not to mention, awards season is back in action!
This Spring, Caché enlisted fashion expert Louise Roe as their new brand ambassador to celebrate special occasion dressing. I’ve always been a fan of Louise’s red carpet style (she’s a fellow lover of brights!) so I caught up with the TV host at The London hotel to chat about trends, accessories and the new Caché collection.
One of my favorite pieces? This floral print sheath. The ruching makes it flattering for all body types, giving curves to more narrow frames and complimenting curvier figures. And the smaller floral print works wether you’re petite like me or a tall glamazon like Louise (she wears the dress in the Spring campaign). Here’s what she had to say about her faves…
LR: Caché are masters of the timeless dress. When I saw the new collection, I was pleasantly surprised how edgy and interesting it was. Any brand that has a real story and a heritage to it excites me more. It’s the kind of brand your mom wore and you wear and then your little sister might find her prom dress at as well.
SS: What are the top Spring trends you’re excited about?
LR: Runway wise, the blushes and those soft pinks and beautiful rose golds, which we’ve seen in accessories and jewelry. But to see it on a dress, that I love. A lot of racer fronts and a lot of gemstone colored dresses: emerald greens, ruby reds, sapphire blues. Working with the brand I’m very much pushing that message that women should wear bright color. Often black is an easy go-to and it’s very chic my mood elevates when I wear bright colors.
SS: I love how versatile these dresses are. I could easily take this one from day to night. What are your tips for translating what you see on the red carpet from daytime to nighttime?
LR: When you see something on the red carpet, I always say take a piece of that trend. Don’t be a fashion victim and try to replicate it head to toe. Take maybe the color or maybe it’s the neckline that happens to be scalloped lace or maybe it’s the chunky necklace and you can rock it with jeans. That’s what fashion is, translating it to your own personal style.
SS: I totally agree! Do you have key staples you like to use to mix up the style of your dresses?
LR: Accessories wise you could do a dress with a flat. I absolutely love that whole trend of wearing something quite evening inspired with a flat. Mix it up. A pop of color whether it’s on your wrist or on your bag. It’s the accessories that completely change the look.
SS: And what’s your favorite clothing item to mix with your dresses?
LR: Draping a blazer over your shoulders when you have a dress on is one of the coolest looks. It just makes me think of Kate Moss. Don’t put your arms through the sleeves. Just drape.
