The Met Gala is essentially the Fashion Oscars. Every year I get so excited to see what designs will come down the red carpet… and this year certainly didn’t disappoint! While some gowns, like my faves Karlolina Kurkova in Marchesa, are impossible to replicate, many celebrity looks are the perfect base for inspiration this prom and wedding season. I chatted with Catt Sadler on E! News to show how you can replicate the crème de la crème of the night.
Rita Ora modeled by Tiffany
Rita stunned in Donna Karan Atelier, a couture piece that took two months to create! I found a similar design, then used ribbon to create a DIY arm bracelet and lace-up heels.
Kim Kardashian modeled by Jamie
Kim redeemed herself at this year’s Meta Gala (remember those Mrs. Doubtfire comparisons last year in her long-sleeve florals?). The Lanvin strapless was classic yet so sexy, thank to a thigh-high slit. I took a bridesmaid dress to the tailor, added a slit for $10 and cut a ribbon sash to get the look for under $200!
Blake Lively modeled by Kier
Blake is a pro at bringing Old Hollywood glamour to the red carpet. For a similar statement, I found a rose gold beaded gown with an illusion back. Side swept waves complete the look.
Emma Stone modeled by Jessie
While I thought it was a little understated for the Met Gala, I adored Emma’s Thakoon crop top and maxi. It’s fresh, modern, simple yet sexy. Since we don’t all have red carpet events, I found a more casual version of the look for under $20! The colorblock combo is perfect for a summer party.
As for me, I nodded to Emma’s colorblocking but did it in blues and greens. And thanks to Carlos Ramirez for recreating the red carpet makeup for the segment!
