I’ve been a huge fan of Project Runway since Season 1. So I was thrilled when Mary Kay asked me if I wanted to get a makeover from Luis Casco based on one of the finale looks. Designer Sean Kelly has been my favorite since he created that incredible white dress that magically changed into an ombré sunset in the rain challenge. And I had a feeling he’d win. So it was a no brainer which look I wanted to recreate.
The makeup was much different than my usual bronze smoky eye. For the finale, Sean worked with Mary Kay to create a strong silver lid. “I love cool tones in the fall for just about anybody,” Luis told me during my makeover. The silver sure worked for Sean’s diverse models.
My favorite part about this look? It’s so simple! It’s all about the eyes and you only need one product: Mary Kay’s cream shadow in Glacier Gray. You apply it with a brush all over your lids−and then use your finger to smooth it out to the brow. We used a little eyeliner to make my eyes pop more. Then, of course, added mascara. While the models had a glossy, bare lip, Luis added a touch of color for me. It’s all about making the runway look your own.
Speaking of which, I was inspired by Sean’s previous challenges for my outfit I paired with the Mary Kay makeup. I thought back to the team challenge he did with Char, where they mixed black sheer panels with bold blue. Then I took inspiration from his crisp white blouse he designed based on the streets of NYC.
