Festival season is officially here! I’ve gotten so many questions about what to wear to Coachella—and Stagecoach and Lollapalooza are right around the corner. Whenever I’m headed outdoors for a weekend of concerts, here are the 6 fashion rules I always follow:
– Get 25% off at Old Navy with code SUPERSAVE through 4/19 –

During the day it can be boiling hot. Then before you know it the sun drops—and so does the weather! So I always make sure to layer. I’ll start with a romper or sundress. As it gets cooler I’ll add a denim vest or jean jacket. Prints and denim are usually my go-to for festivals because they don’t show dirt as much as solids. If I want to wear my whites, I’ll save it for the parties. {wearing Old Navy vest and dress}

The first year I went to Coachella I bought a super cool pair of gladiator sandals. I thought they were the perfect festival footwear. Man was I wrong! I kept having to stop to take rocks out of my shoes and my feet were absolutely filthy by the time I got back to our hotel. Every year since I’ve done closed-toe shoes. While a cowboy boot fits right in at Stagecoach, an espadrille flat or bootie is perfect for Coachella. {wearing Old Navy espadrilles}

Music festivals are all about ease. So you don’t want to have to worry about holding anything except a drink. When it comes to handbags, I always carry a cross-body. If you’re into the backpack trend, that works too! {wearing Joelle Hawkens bag (similar)}

A scarf is my favorite accessory to bring to a festival. It’s so versatile! It acts as blanket when you’re sitting watching your fave bands. You can wear it traditionally around your neck when it gets cold or use it as a blanket if goose-bumps really set in. And when those awful wind storms start up it’s the perfect piece to wrap around your face so you don’t come back with a face full of sand. Plus, when you’re not using it, it’s so easy to just tie around your bag to add a pop of color. {wearing Old Navy scarf}

Use a scarf (see above). Don’t forget your sunnies. And hats are great ways to make sure you don’t get sunburned. Of course, sunscreen is key too. But we’re talking festival fashion. {wearing Toms sunnies (new version)}

Festivals are the one occasion I ditch the less is more theory. A stack full of friendship bracelets adds a fun pop of color. I like mixing mine with gold for a more sophisticated look. Then I add midi rings, hand wraps and layers of gold necklaces for a boho vibe. {wearing Stella & Dot, Haute Betts, Wren and Glory bracelets and Gorjana rings and Gorjana necklaces}
