The Academy Awards always has the best fashion. But there are very few occasions most of us can rock a gown like the celebrities. There are always a few trends, though, that easily transition into real life. One big trend from the Oscars red carpet was floral appliqué. Priyanka Chopra wore an embellished Zuhair Murad strapless, Jennifer Jason Leigh went ultra feminine in Marchesa and Chrissy Teigen showed off her baby bump in Marchesa as well. Even Jared Leto swapped his bow tie for a flower! This trend is perfect for spring. You can wear it with a flirty mini dress, girlie top paired with jeans or embroidered pencil skirt with a crisp white-button down.

–Another big trend was matching your makeup with your gown. Rachel McAdams and Saoirse Ronan both use green eyeshadow to emphasize their emerald gowns. With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, you can easily get the look with a simple green-eye liner. I especially loved how Olivia Munn complemented her Stella McCartney gown with a tangerine lip. Considering orange is so huge for this season, I’ll definitely be trying this one out soon.
For jewelry, chokers and collar necklaces were huge. Naomi Watts always does a statement piece of jewelry, and her Bulgari diamonds added major sparkle. Olivia Wilde highlighted the daring neckline of her Valentino Haute Couture gown with a Neil Lane choker. And Sophie Turner went classic in Tiffany & Co with her Galvan dress. Costume jewelry version of these pieces are a great way to show off lower necklines or to layer over a t-shirt for spring.

–Now when it comes to the best dressed on the Oscars red carpet, my go-to fashionista favorites brought their A-game as usual. I loved Naomi’s mermaid look (and how cute is it it that Liev Schreiber picked it out for her?!). And Charlize Theron, of course, was a complete knockout in custom Christian Dior.
I also thought Lady Gaga looked incredible. The Brandon Maxwell dress was elegant, sexy but still unique thanks to the pants. I was so impressed! And even though Alicia Vikander did look a little like Belle in Louis Vuitton, there’s no better night to mimic a Disney princess than the Oscars. Plus, yellow is my favorite color and I thought the high low hemline with those very cool shoes made it modern.
But my favorite was, as I expected, Cate Blanchett. She is simply a fashion goddess and looked like Hollywood royalty in Armani Privé, which also is in line with the night’s floral appliqué trend. Who was your favorite?
They all look so stunning and I can’t really make up my mind which gown I like the most! Thanks for sharing!
