One trend that has made a major comeback is the paperbag waist. Essentially it’s a high waist that has scrunchy fabric around the middle and is usually cinched with a belt or ribbon. Styled right, paperbag waist pants can create that coveted hourglass silhouette. Here are my three tips for rocking the pant trend:
1. Tuck it in.
Since there is so much extra fabric around the waist, you want to make sure whatever you wear on top is fitted and tucked in. If you’re open to showing more skin, a crop top also works very well with these style pants.
2. Play with proportion.
If you’re adding a jacket either go cropped or long. You don’t want anything to hit at the waist otherwise it can make you look bigger. To bring my chambray paperbag waist pants to the office, I added a cropped knit cardigan (30% off today!).
3. Add some height.
If you’re already tall, you can totally go with flats. But if you’re on the petite side like me, a paperbag waist pant screams for heels. If you do a cropped trouser like mine, it’s a great opportunity to show off new shoes (I’m obsessed with these pumps for spring!). If you go for more of a palazzo style pant, use a wedge to add some height.
